Peshawar BRT Buses are safe to cater harsh weather conditions and are under use for continuous training and inspections

June 27, 2019, Peshawar – There is a misperception in general public and mass media about Peshawar BRT buses being damaged while parked under open sky due to water, dust and direct sunlight. However, TransPeshawar reinstates that BRT buses can cope with tough weather conditions, and that the buses are already customized keeping in mind the hot weather conditions of Peshawar.
The buses’ bodies are made of non-corrosive material so there is no risk of corrosion due to water. Likewise, the body is made up of material, which is durable enough, to handle direct sunlight. The buses are being washed periodically to keep them safe of excessive dust. Moreover, the buses have warranty of 24 months for all of its components and parts, excluding battery pack and motor which has warranty of 12 years. In addition, the physical body of all buses are designed for useful life of 12 years.
“The buses are not idle and are moved on daily basis by various vendors (intelligent transportation system contractor, vehicle operating company and bus supplier) for periodic running, drivers training, pre-delivery inspections and installation of Intelligent Transport System equipment. Thus, it is not practical to cover the buses due to their frequent usage, “said TransPeshawar representative in a statement issued here in Peshawar.
International team of experts from the supplier is also deputed in Peshawar, who inspect and monitor the buses on regular basis, to ensure standard operating procedures are being followed to upkeep the buses as per the supplier’s recommendations.
