After BRT operations will start in Peshawar, the decades old buses and vans without any fitness certificates will not be allowed on BRT routes. These vehicles are not only unsafe to travel but also are polluting the environment, and some of these are not even run by qualified drivers. To compensate local industry, the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is providing an excellent opportunity to bus/wagon owners to purchase these vehicles.

“This is a great opportunity for buses, ford wagons and minibuses to enlist their vehicles. We will not only provide them appropriate compensation up to a maximum of 1.5 million PKR but also provide monthly income of around PKR 30,000 per month. The vehicles are evaluated on the basis of availability of original documents, model of vehicle, possession of appropriate route permit and physical condition of vehicle,” said a TransPeshawar representative in a statement today.

In addition, Peshawar BRT will also hire staff that include Public Service Vehicle (PSV) license holding drivers, conductors, ticketing, repair and maintenance, security and cleaning staff. The employees working in the local transport industry for years in Peshawar are, however, will be preferred for this. The lists of these employees will be then handed over to vendors selected to operate BRT who will prefer enlisted workers for the job opportunities. These workers will be given renumeration as per the labor laws of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government which is usually not a practice in private local transport industry.

TransPeshawar has kicked off enlistment campaign today and have established facilitation desks at following seven locations around the city including TransPeshawar Office, Komboh adda, Hayatabad Phase 6 adda, Khoat Road adda, General bus stand and Karkhano market adda. These desks are manned with staff who will provide information and required forms of enlistment from April 10 to May 10, 2019.

All these vehicle owners and allied staff is encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and submit completed form by May 10, 2019 at the above established facilitation desks.
