The Transport Planning and Data Analyst will be playing a critical role in discovering and communicating data-driven insights and maintaining database to ensure efficient service network and operational plan improvements. The successful applicant will be responsible for arranging data, developing formats, analysis of data, analyzing travel pattern variation, arranging schedules and master timetable, robust scheduling to incorporate changes in demand and travel pattern, frequent visit of routes to assess on site issues, providing data to different department and organizations for research and development, and proposing innovative solutions to improve service level. Evolve the data platform with user-friendly tools, solutions and dashboards so that relevant information can be efficiently gathered and easily interpreted for the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Major areas of responsibilities are: –
• Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems Identify, analyse, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
• Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize bus and bicycle schedule.
• Develop, maintain and analyse ridership data
• Preparation of multiple schedules for each routes based on previous data pattern based on weekdays and months travel pattern
• Random visits to site / routes to check bus occupancy. At least six visits in week on different route and times including early morning and late night
• Preparation of operational schedules to cater any change in demand, seasonal variation, weekday and weekend variations and other travel demand changes.
• Assist in planning of new route and optimization of current routes.
• Record keeping of data related to ridership and schedules
• Keep record of all schedules and incorporate any update.
• Turning data into information, information into insight and insight into business decisions.
• Any other task as assigned by line manager.

Position Requirements

1. ATTAINMENTS
Qualification
Required
B.Sc Engineering Degree in Transportation Engineering/planning, Transportation Economics, or related field from a recognized university.

EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in the relevant field. Candidates with Master Degree in the mentioned fields along with 3 years’ experience are also eligible to apply. Experience in the same role in transportation industry or research experience in transportation demand, transport modelling, scheduling, travel demand management and data collection & analysis will be and added advantage.

EXPERIENCE AND CORE COMPETENCIES
• Excellent communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills.
• Excellent problem solving and time management skills.
• Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint essential),
• Demonstrated ability to deliver reports and agreed actions in a timely manner and within financial constraints,
• Demonstrated ability to take responsibility in accordance with sound management principles
• Credible, and comfortable in dealing with management, line agencies, general public and other stakeholders
• Understanding of challenges faced by field operations, problems of implementing programmes and constraints of negotiating with persons of concern.

2. CIRCUMSTANCES
• Age below 35 years.
• Fluency in English and Urdu, Pashto would be an added advantage.
• Good health, allow to work long and irregular hours (when required).
