OVERALL ROLE:
Reporting to the Manager Business Development & Marketing; Business Development Officer has to identify, develop, and manage commercial opportunities within BRT-owned plazas, stations, buses and retail spaces, thereby generating sustainable non-fare revenue streams. The role involves engaging tenants, managing leases, exploring advertising, retail, and branding opportunities, and ensuring optimal utilization of all commercial assets.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The position of Business Development Officer has following primary responsibilities:
1. Advertising Sales & Management:
- Identify and pitch advertising opportunities across BRT assets including buses, bus backs, inside panels, station branding, digital screens, and hoardings.
- Develop and maintain a database of advertising clients (media agencies, corporate clients, local businesses).
- Prepare proposals, rate cards, and sales kits for potential advertisers.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and space allocation in compliance with company policies.
- Coordinate with advertising vendors and ensure installation meets agreed quality standards.
2. Commercial Plaza Leasing:
- Manage leasing of retail spaces in BRT commercial plazas
- Conduct market research to identify suitable tenants and product categories (e.g., food, retail, services).
- Draft and negotiate lease agreements in consultation with legal and finance teams.
- Ensure tenant compliance with terms, design aesthetics, and safety regulations.
- Monitor occupancy, rental collections, and lease renewals.
3. Business Development Strategy:
- Identify new business models and revenue streams (e.g., digital kiosks, vending machines, pop-up retail).
- Collaborate with planning and engineering teams to assess commercial potential of new assets.
- Provide input in tender/RFP development for third-party vendors and media agencies.
- Develop partnerships with telecoms, banks, and other service providers for co-branding and promotional campaigns.
4. Coordination & Implementation:
- Work closely with operations, legal, finance, and engineering teams for seamless execution of projects.
- Oversee branding and advertising material placement on buses and infrastructure.
- Ensure all commercial activities comply with company guidelines and government regulations.
5. Reporting & Documentation:
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports on sales performance, occupancy, and revenue targets.
- Maintain proper documentation of contracts, tenant records, invoices, and correspondence.
- Track revenue targets and identify gaps for corrective action.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- ATTAINMENTS
Qualification
At least 16 years of education in Business Administration (preferably in Marketing/Sales), Economics or related fields from a recognized university.
Specialized Training – Marketing/Sales, Leasing, Advertising, Indirect Sales, Business Development, Branding or any other skills considered relevant for the position.
Active affiliations – membership of recognised Industry or Professional Organisations.
EXPERIENCE
At least 03 years of post-qualification relevant experience. 01 years of experience in business development, advertising sales, real estate leasing, or marketing—preferably in transportation, retail will be considered an advantage.
- CORE COMPETENCIES
- Strong selling, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Understanding of retail leasing and advertising sales.
- Good knowledge of legal and financial aspects of leasing and contracts.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and meet revenue targets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of advertising industry trends and local market dynamics.
- CIRCUMSTANCES
- Fluency in English and Urdu. Pashto will be considered an added advantage.
- Good health, allow to work long and irregular hours (when required).
- Age up to 42 years on the closing date of applications.
